Project Goal

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), covering an area of 196.23 sq km and home to around 6 million people, faces significant urban management challenges due to its high population density of 49000 residents per square kilometer. Until recently, DNCC relied on traditional paper-based methods for its operations.?

However, DNCC has made significant strides by establishing an advanced Emergency Operation Center (EOC), greatly improving its ability to respond to emergencies and manage day-to-day operations. This centralized hub, equipped with the ArcGIS Enterprise platform, brings transparency, efficiency, and quick decision-making to DNCC's operations.?

Furthermore, ArcGIS Enterprise is playing a crucial role for managing government-owned land, reclaiming public spaces, overseeing road construction, and managing civil projects. DNCC uses this technology for real-time monitoring in waste management, employee activities, and urban tree monitoring. It also helps in engaging volunteers.

Business Problem Solved

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) faced various business challenges, some of which were resolved using ArcGIS Enterprise solutions. For instance, GIS helped in vector management, specifically in controlling larvae like those causing dengue. Before GIS implementation, DNCC struggled to locate and address larvae hotspots efficiently. GIS enabled accurate pinpointing of these hotspots, allowing DNCC to allocate resources more effectively, such as directing insecticide spraying to areas with the highest larval concentration. Additionally, GIS optimized logistics for activities like drainage cleaning and mosquito control, ensuring efficient resource utilization. Furthermore, GIS facilitated risk assessment by analyzing geographical data related to natural disasters and property values, enhancing DNCC's decision-making and service delivery. Overall, ArcGIS Enterprise provided DNCC with a robust platform for informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and improved service delivery.

Technology Implemented

Esri Technology has played an important role in implementing and deploying solutions for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Leveraging ArcGIS Enterprise on-premises solution and ArcGIS Online platform, DNCC has access to a wide range of services and applications tailored for various environments, including mobile, desktop, and server.?

DNCC utilizes applications such as Survey123, Dashboard, Experience Builder, Field Maps, and others to effectively manage government-owned land, reclaim public spaces, oversee road construction, and monitor waste management, employee activities, and urban tree monitoring. These applications enable DNCC to streamline operations, enhance decision-making, and improve service delivery to citizens.?

Moreover, the use of Esri Technology allows DNCC to engage marginal people as volunteers and monitor city corporation services related to sanitation and electrical work efficiently. Overall, Esri Technology serves as a comprehensive solution for DNCC.
