GÜBRETAŞ (Gübre Fabrikaları Türk A.Ş) and GÜBRETAŞ (Gübre Fabrikaları Türk A.Ş)

Project Goal

High input costs and low production quantities in agriculture increase food prices on a unit basis, and indiscriminate irrigation also leads to a significant decrease in our country's water resources.
Aware of the vital importance of smart agricultural technologies in reducing the adverse effects of climate change, adapting to this process, coping with potential crises in the future, and creating a sustainable agricultural economy, Gübretas has initiated the foundation of technological agricultural studies within this transformation process.
Gübretas aims to collect samples from all over Turkey and conduct analyses to offer effective and efficient prescriptions to farmers nationwide and to develop new products. Additionally, after analysing these soils, Gübretas aims to provide prescriptions to farmers regarding the amount of fertilizer to be used in their fields, the timing of use, and the type of fertilizer to be used.

Business Problem Solved

Within Gübretas, soil sample data and analysis results have begun to accumulate, leading to the formation of big data related to Turkish soils. At this stage, teams need to compare these values on a map, monitor sample values, and create interpolations accordingly to provide added value.
To solve this problem, Gübretas R&D and technology teams have successfully mapped the soil samples taken with location information, making the big data meaningful and valuable using Esri solutions.

Technology Implemented

To meet the needs of the business and improve capabilities, the GUBRETAS R&D team leveraged ArcGIS technology, including ArcGIS Pro.

Thanks to ArcGIS solutions, Gübretas rapidly archived spatial data collected from the field and added value to the data by providing accurate fertilizer recommendations based on the analysis of these data, tailored to specific regions.
Gübretas has successfully provided farmers with the correct prescription regarding the amount of fertilizer to be used in their fields, the timing of use, and the type of fertilizer to be used.
