Project Goal
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey (AFAD) has established, for the first time, a landslide and rockfall susceptibility and hazard analysis and mapping system covering the entire country, known as the Disaster Risk Reduction System (ARAS) and built on the ESRI Geoserver infrastructure. This system will also serve as the foundation for an active landslide monitoring and early warning system, in accordance with the protocol signed between the AFAD Presidency and the General Directorate of Mapping, which involves conducting aerial LiDAR imaging across all of Turkey to update the national landslide inventory database.Business Problem Solved
As part of disaster risk reduction efforts, it enables the planning of all disaster risk reduction processes related to natural hazards across Turkey’s 81 provinces. In this way, it also makes a significant contribution to an effective disaster risk management process.
Technology Implemented
ESRI Enterprise products are used both as servers for modeling algorithms and in the processes of preparing data and making it ready for upload to the main system using the ArcGIS Pro desktop application.
