Project Goal
ETM set out to bring consistency and structure to how GIS is used across the firm as it continued to grow. Different business units had adopted geospatial tools in different ways, which created inefficiencies and limited data sharing. The goal was to establish a unified enterprise GIS environment that supports engineering, planning, and asset management workflows. This included standardizing tools, improving access to reliable data, and making GIS more accessible to both technical and non technical staff so it could be used more effectively in daily project delivery and decision making.Business Problem Solved
Although ETM had largely adopted digital workflows, critical processes, especially in the field, still relied on paper or disconnected systems. This led to delays, inconsistent data, and duplicate effort. By moving to fully mobile enabled GIS workflows, ETM improved how data is collected, validated, and shared in real time. In parallel, the team expanded into digital twin development, allowing clients to better visualize and manage infrastructure systems. This approach supports both public and private clients by shifting from static datasets to dynamic, continuously updated systems.
Technology Implemented
The solution is built on ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, providing a flexible environment that supports both internal operations and external client facing applications. Esri solution templates were used to quickly deploy standardized workflows and maintain consistency across projects. ArcGIS Business Analyst supports planning, market analysis, and site selection, while web maps, dashboards, and mobile applications are used by both office and field teams. These tools are applied across ETM’s internal teams and for public and private sector clients, creating a scalable and repeatable approach to GIS delivery.
Development Team Biography
ETM’s Geospatial Technologies team includes approximately 20 dedicated GIS professionals, with a strong presence in Florida and additional staff distributed across the United States. Many team members hold GISP certifications and bring experience from consulting, local government, and enterprise technology environments. The team includes specialists in application development, data management, and system integration, along with staff who work directly with engineers and planners. This combination allows ETM to deliver GIS solutions that are technically sound and aligned with real world project needs.
