Project Goal
The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has set a benchmark in the utilization of geographic information systems (GIS) by developing an Enterprise GIS Platform (EGP) with ESRI technology. This project exemplifies how geospatial technology can be harnessed to enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and service delivery within a governmental context. The RTA faced a multifaceted business problem centered on improving operational efficiency, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement within its urban transport and infrastructure projects. Prior to the implementation of the Enterprise GIS Platform (EGP), data was siloed across departments, leading to inefficiencies, duplicated efforts, and challenges in making informed decisions. There was a pressing need to streamline operations, enhance the quality of services provided to the public, and foster better collaboration among internal departments, external government entities, and the broader community.
